a booming clavinet led banger from everyones favourite disco uncles, eric duncan and dean meredith. heavy on the lasers and scything hi hats with a bassline as deep as you would expect from these fellers. marcellus trademark sound is all over his remix - sultry rhodes and sweet, driving funk, and the central executives version strips it to the bone, revealing not a skeleton but a robot. a robot playing a fucking saxophone! rock on, dudes. golf channel every time!
time for some serious maniac sonics for the world to enjoy the way mathematics has been known for by combining the talents of two insane sonic visionaries, deviere & jamal moss. a fusion of larry heard, sun ra, and armando. this ep is to ease you into what’s about to come.
second shan release on running back. this one has chicagos jack, leanings of new york garage dubs, miami bass methodology and breakbeat led rave signals all on one record and made for the dancing publics benefit. includes the infamous piano mix as heard in the boiler room with ata and gerd janson back in november 2014. you better work!
jessy lanza meets the teklife crew on this sultry ep, with dj spinn and taso’s first-released rnb track, and a teklife footwork remix with assistance from the late dj rashad.
klangscheiben records is proud to present its frst vinyl release of a brand new series, a various artists compilation entitled „the fable“. while some tales start with “once upon a time“, this one begins with the candid rhythms and guileless synergy of german duo metaboman and large m’s “taverne master”. canadian minimal masterminds akufen and pheek each provide their own input: the former’s weaving synth-driven jazzy storylines, the latter’s a trip through fragmented instrumentals and a min-tech narrative. klangscheiben label boss demas shows his fangs with a brooding slow burner permeated by skin-crawling microsounds, a flow picked up by montreal producer magnanime’s “psychomagic master”. ark’s parable is awash with echoing vocal snippets and an addictive piano riff, melting into the strange sound of tom ellis, whose “shotgun” is at once stripped back and full of life. tomas jirku wraps up the release with “one monkey”, a glitchy, eccentric minimal piece that is as unpredictable as you’d expect from the vancouver producer. the moral of the story? listen and fnd out.
this june will see the amam imprint return with guido schneider & jens bonds *if you* ep, accompanied by a remix from konrad black. all pressed on 180 gram vinyl.
as one of the most exciting talents rising out of the uk, there is no better time for dc-10 resident richy ahmed to team up with new yorks seminal house imprint, strictly rhythm, and release * cant you see ep*. opening with a hard-hitting 4/4 beat * cant you see* features a funk-laden walking bassline adding fluidity to the mix, calling on the sound of the 80s and bringing it in to the present day. analog synth sounds are peppered amongst bluntly cut vocal samples, drawing inspiration from the clinical elements of techno, yet retaining the groove that ahmeds work is rapidly becoming synonymous with. the eps second track is ahmeds remix of logics 1990 classic * the warning*. the originals acapella has been repurposed by ahmed, looming over the tracks driving percussive elements. with a low-slung bassline interchanging with sizzling hi-hats, the remix pulls the original away from its blissed-out roots and firmly into the warehouse, providing new meaning to one of the legendary strictly rhythm’s many classic club anthems.
with dan curtin on the 4th release, melodymathics has undoubtedly one of the key players in the development of electronic music as we know it today. with *deserted station dan curtin is as innovative and vital as he has ever been. this funky production, with the typical dan curtin edge, covers the sound of the past, the present and the future.
*i want you*, the result of a collaboration between 3 belgian talents, discovered by melodymathics. amtek&e-freak ft. mike ekim are bringing the contemporary club sound, though remaining funky and soulful, with catchy vocals. a real dancefloor killer!
melodymathics holds the tradition alive to indulge the vinyl djs. this time the funky loops are provided by the mysterious melodymann and sjef wanders.
straight out of sheffield! classic bring you one from the new school….scott monkz. currently bubbling around with a fantastic vinyl following scott is set for higher ground.a master of the swingy beat and blaxploitation sample - thatmanmonkz takes a little detroit, a little chicago and a whole lot of sheffield to add his spin on an old school sound. drafting in the vocal talents of pete simpson, this ep moves things around wonderfully. luke solomon has supported monkz heavily on his business as usual radio show over the last 2 years….and now its time to welcome him officially into the classic family.
as earlier compilations of danza meccanica have taught us, italy gave birth to a disproportionate number of synth-pop, new wave and electronic acts in the 80s. mannequin goes deeper into the italian new wave archelogical research with a killer 10 tracks selection of carmody. picking their name from a science fiction novel titled dimension of miracles by robert sheckley, carmody were coming from torino, as their pairs monuments and chromagain. started as a duo (alberto ramella and andrea lesmo) and later a trio with max casacci joining in as a guitar player, carmody recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. sleep on mirrors compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you one of the most peculiar 80s minimal synth music coming out of italy
this album is another chapter in the ongoing there s-muchmore-to-brazil than-bossa-nova saga. it s filled with disco-eratracks produced for the brazilian domestic marketplace, some of which were hits, others which were quite obscure. what binds them all together - besides their common origins, time period and overall musical approach - is the fact that their reputation has been steadily transcending brazils borders. this has allowed these tunes to find their place on set lists, want lists and in the crates of the world s most discerning djs and tastemakers.
certain music records is a new label which is trying to transmit the true spirit of house music house music for fans to be enjoyed at the dancefloor the first reference is in charge of the groove brothers, aka jef k and rhythm & soul and the collab between chicago legend tyree cooper. the original is a groovy track with sultry vocals and bass samples that drives you back to the early 2000s house sound. side b tyree made to remix preserving the spirit of the house of chicago icluyendo the classic bassline acid of the first productions of the genre. back to the origins.
san franciscos very own pagan anarchist acid rave sons dj spun and jonah sharp team up with skate punk legend ray stevens ii and liquid liquid / fist of facts sal principato for their sophomore release on golf channel. a short sharp shot to the head, its hot is a fast & vibrant piece that evokes bygone, punk, no wave, genreless days - and at a fair clip at that. the bonus beats strip it down to the skeletal for some voodoo business while the columbus hotel mix is a version that sounds like nothing else you will hear this year. industrial techno tribal goth dub vibes for 2075 and beyond!
welcome back to the movielike resonating sound world of the 23s. already in 2008 the mysterious one-man band proofed with the album “bolivia” that they are trying to do another kind of music – something that isn’t entertainment, something that isn’t show, something that goes gently straight to your soul. now the producer from nord-rhine-westphalia did it again and tuned in the longplayer “flamingo”. anew he delivers a special kind of cinematic journey music that grooves opposite to his other, more rhythm based hypnotic dance productions. also as the 23s he produces pattern-based music, but it pursues a different intention: each listener should dive into a hallucinatory world of seen and unseen films that his inner eye creates unprejudiced. all ten tracks are romantic smooth operators. they put themselves in service of an artistic vision, in which the listener should get lost in music. the album can be seen as a love-letter to the movie scores of the french 70s cinema or the impressionistic sound arrangements you can hear in the early cinema of peter greenaway. with double bass heat, discreet piano melodies, levitating guitar chords, some gentle horns here and there and beats that recollect the warm jazz influenced soul of oldschool hip-hop the 23s generate a sublime get-down-deep instrumental journey. you can listen to it attentive. or you can just play it in the back while doing whatever you like to do. it is recommended to play “flamingo” in a decent amount of volume as all loungey tracks begin to live bigger and brighter with sound intensity. if you play it flashy you will experience an atmospheric sometimes light-flooded, sometimes foggy 40-minute electronic journey that offers open-minded souls to fill the room between the notes with their very own milky fancy. soon the album will be accompanied by a bunch of remixes tuned in and twisted by producers like giegling and white artists edward, christian s of the cómeme tribe, canadian producer the mole and the german post rock and electronic music band to rococo rot.
a1 tow the line feat. name one emerge yourself into this raw earthy brown house joint with sparkling piano arpeggios and a stunning vocal performance by name one that reminded us a bit of the young jim morrison. ride a bicycle in the fresh of the day with the reviving vibe of spring and enjoy! b1 täume feat. name one the world of enthusiastic and dirty grooves, stamping basslines: this one pushes you back to the roots of the real deep house. it s oldschool but it s also bringing you the freshness and uniqueness of the bambook sound. twee, a quality tune!
reissue of a unknown b-side of an early belgian trance outfit release. before they made euro trance they made this heavenly balearic gem. it screamed for lauer remixes and he provided…
unless you have been sleeping it should be pretty obvious that wph head honcho red d has a weak spot for early belgian trance stuff. before trance was even known as trance that is… the early 90ies were the post new beat era in belgium and loads of producers were experimenting with new sounds to steer away from the blatantly commercial new beat chart stuff. so that is when the magic started happening.
the undisputed masters of brain-altering, transcendent electronics return with their first studio album since 2010’s further. released to coincide with headline slots at glastonbury, sonar and bestival, the chemical brothers’ eighth studio album - born in the echoes - is a magnificent eleven-track collection of lean, propulsive machine driven music. from juddering robotic funk to unhinged futurist freakbeat, icy spectral psych to rhapsodic analog synthetics, from euphoric spiritual acid to harmonic ambient distortion, the album is the sound of a reinvigorated chemical brothers creating some of the most mind-expanding music of their career to date.
you re next: growling reece and jumping drums. ulterior motive show no sign of let up after the debut album the fourth wall. menacing and dancefloor tested *you re next* was made specially for the floor.
music city: super funk. blaxploitation. ulterior motive resurrect a style not heard for a while with this one. sounding live and full of energy music city is the slick older cousin of 2014 album cut sideways and will no doubt be just as popular.

AINT THAT FUNKIN KIND OF HARD ON YOU? (LOUIE VEGA REMIXES)
12" 06.07.15
the original version is nothing short of a classic, but its as if the song had never been invited to a louie vega post-midnight global extravaganza. was the song not aware that spellbound dancing and high bpms were the standard for house music? normally, such a blaring disregard for nightlife decorum would relegate a song to the pits of sonic hell, but we’re talking about george clinton here! the original opens up with a g-funk groove that screams westside and lowriders. the listener is then blessed with clinton as he adds his sage, soulful and pimpadelic vocals, complemented by funkadelic singers asking him about the pains of the funk. the semblance of a beat that could drive the dancefloor into the morning hours is there, but in no way has it blossomed into its full glory. enter louie vega.

m.ono & luvless join forces for the seventh release on leipzig s much loved rose records the pair runs and curates alongside martin hayes & l.sluter. the duo impressed a few years ago with sought-after joint productions on upmarket labels like o*rs and kolour ltd and now steps up to the plate with a pair of pitch-perfect burners for their own imprint for the label s first 10- release. synth lines set the mood on the a with the delectable double you. crisp drums set the pace, carefully arranged percussive elements, a teasing vocal and a monumental breakdown take care of the rest. on the flipside we have happy chap. a quintessential rose fare with its tight drums, vocal snips and the sort of deadly piano work that is such a staple in m.ono and luvless productions.
